A Happy Birthday Surprise
July is the month that Aston incorporated NuSpecies in 2007.
I'll never forget that afternoon in my little Mount Vernon apartment as I was walking out of the bathroom when Aston called me to say, "Jillian, I came up with the name for the company – NuSpecies. What do you think?"
I'll also never forget a year later when I joined him to bring his formulas to market and he sat at his desk that he still had from law school and I was sitting on the two seater pull-out sofa and he asked me, "Are you ready to do this?"
We both crack up today looking back because we had NO idea what we were getting into. We thought we were ready, ha!
There's an expression that goes something like: If you could be told all that would happen to you while building a business, you would never start a business.
Now, 19 years later, despite the inevitable setbacks and challenges of manifesting our products and company from the nebula of our imaginations, NuSpecies' team and products are still making a meaningful impact in people's lives everyday.
Arthur Brooks says that true happiness comes from deriving meaning in how you spend your time. True meaning is found in only a few ways and one of them is in service to others. When I listened to him say this in an interview, I was thinking, "Oh, that's why I feel this way".
When I think of you and all the clients we speak to regularly, I can hear your voices in my head, and it brings a deep joy and gratitude. It's a feeling that generates a powerful energy down to the smallest particles of my human and spiritual existence.
Even when nurturing this rowdy teenager that Aston named NuSpecies, no matter how hard it gets, we wouldn't want to be anywhere else, doing anything else.
Thank you for being part of our movement, for buying our products, and for bringing the deepest form of happiness to our lives.
Our gratitude also extends to this great country on its 250th birthday. What makes the United States awesome are those that live here. You, us, and many other gritty, resourceful, creative, loving, funny people who are contributing to the welfare of our fellow countryman everyday.
