Aston Gustavous Farquharson: From Systems Integrity to the SDAE Canon

How family experience, corporate law, global contract negotiations, invention, and decades of service shaped the founder of NuSpecies

Founder profile and media background | NuSpecies | Revised 8 October 2026

Aston Gustavous Farquharson is the founder of NuSpecies Corporation, a former corporate-contract negotiator and contributor to IBM’s electronic-contracting inventions, an inventor of energy-generation designs, and the creator of Singularity Dual-Aspect Emergence (SDAE). His current work brings these experiences into an expanding body of writing about emergence, consciousness, coherence, dignity, and human responsibility. [1][2][3][11][23]

The connection among those pursuits is not that a computer network, a generator, and a human being share one mechanism. It is a question Farquharson brings to each: how do the parts of a system relate, what allows their relationships to endure, and what happens when an apparently successful part conceals a failure elsewhere? In his account, work on secure contracting and energy-system design helped shape this attention to relationships, boundaries, and the wider conditions of performance. [4]

The human stakes came from somewhere more personal. Family illness, bereavement, charitable work, and conversations with people seeking additional support gave those structural questions an ethical direction. The SDAE Canon attempts to connect that concern for how systems work with another question: how should people live, care, and use what they know? [5][3]

Family, listening, and the origins of a mission

Farquharson was born in Jamaica and later made his home in the United States. His published biography describes teenage service in the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Mobile Reserve, study at Long Island University and Syracuse University College of Law, and subsequent corporate-law and legal-services experience involving IBM and Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. These details form part of his publicly stated personal and professional history. [6]

His own recollections begin less with institutions than with listening. He describes a childhood speech impediment that made speaking difficult and encouraged him to observe closely. His father, a preacher and businessman, was also a trusted companion. Accompanying him around the family’s farms, Farquharson remembers listening to conversations about work, community, faith, and the education his father wanted for his children. [5]

That memory gives the later emphasis on dignity a personal origin. Being heard without being diminished is not only a principle in his books; it is something he associates with the people who made him feel safe as a child. His memorial writing similarly recalls parents whose faith was expressed through feeding people, helping the sick and elderly, and welcoming those in need. [5][7]

Farquharson recounts that his father’s prostate disease and cancer emerged as he was preparing to enter law school. His father subsequently died following the progression of cancer. His mother lived with serious complications of diabetes, including amputations, before her death. He describes these experiences as formative encounters with the difference between seeking treatment, hoping for recovery, and living through an outcome a family cannot control. [5][7]

His response was not simply to reject medicine. In his personal account, he describes medicine as a benefit to humanity while asking what more could be done for people whose suffering remained unresolved. He recalls writing, when leaving IBM, that he intended to pursue charitable work connected with prostate cancer and diabetes. The illnesses of his parents became part of the motivation for a longer commitment to education, nutritional support, and compassionate attention. [8]

Fried Frank and IBM: the corporate foundations of systems integrity

Before developing NuSpecies and the SDAE Canon, Aston Gustavous Farquharson built a professional background in corporate law, legal services, and contract negotiation. That history includes work at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson and, subsequently, International Business Machines Corporation (IBM). The Fried Frank chapter forms part of his corporate-law background; his expanded account of IBM describes responsibilities in global outsourcing negotiations, digital-contract invention, and collaborative platform development. [6][23]

At IBM, his responsibilities extended from negotiating agreements to leading invention and co-leading the development and deployment of digital-contracting technology. His expanded account connects commercial negotiation, legal governance, and software implementation as related responsibilities that had to work together. [23]

Global outsourcing negotiations and the case for digital contracting

At IBM, Farquharson led and co-led contract negotiations for global outsourcing agreements. Alongside this work, he and IBM’s enterprise legal teams identified opportunities for potential cost savings by making digital contracting a standardized part of the organization’s business processes. The opportunity was not simply to place a signature on a screen; it was to connect the legal requirements of an agreement with a secure and coordinated electronic workflow. [23]

In Farquharson’s account, this required bridging two kinds of expertise: the legal and commercial understanding of what an agreement must accomplish, and the technical understanding of how software could support its creation, approval, execution, protection, and retention. The work brought him into collaboration with IBM business executives, attorneys, and research engineers. [23]

The initiative’s proposed value lay in institutionalizing digital contracting: making it part of routine enterprise practice while addressing the legal and technical requirements of the complete process. [23]

Contracts Online: lead invention and shared implementation

Farquharson identifies his role in IBM’s Contracts Online e-signature initiative as lead inventor. He then co-led the platform’s development and deployment with global IBM business executives, IBM Research software engineers, and IBM attorneys. These descriptions distinguish his originating and leadership contributions from the shared work of building and implementing the platform. [23]

A central insight was that an electronic signature’s trustworthiness depends on the infrastructure and process surrounding it. Who may enter the system? Who may see a particular contract? Have the appropriate parties deliberately approved it? Can the sequence of actions be traced? Is there a reliable record of the completed agreement? Related patent disclosures address authentication, approval, access controls, activity tracking, and final contract records. [9][10]

Farquharson describes leading a cross-functional team toward a tamper-evident digital contracting environment called Contracts Online, with legal governance and technical execution treated as parts of one design problem. He also emphasizes the contributions of IBM lawyers and business executives who are named as co-inventors in the associated patent work. The development story is therefore one of leadership through collaboration, rather than an account of a single individual performing every legal, commercial, and engineering task. [23]

Three IBM-assigned U.S. patents in the electronic-contracting record

Public patent records independently document Farquharson’s named inventorship alongside IBM colleagues. Three grants relevant to this account are:

U.S. Patent 7,363,509 — electronic execution of contracts. Granted April 22, 2008, this invention concerns electronically executing contracts within a secure computer infrastructure. Its disclosed workflow includes authenticated access, deliberate approval, execution, activity recording, and a final contract image containing the signatures and execution date. [9]

U.S. Patent 7,971,068 — protection of related electronic contracts. Granted June 28, 2011, this invention addresses the creation and handling of related contracts while preventing a party from accessing another contract to which that party is not entitled. Its design combines coordination among participants with separation of access and recorded activity. [10]

U.S. Patent 8,275,670 — electronic sales and contracting. Granted September 25, 2012, this invention connects customer requirements, information-technology component selection, compatibility checks, recommendations, and the finalization of an integrated solution within a secure computer infrastructure. [2]

These selected grants document joint inventorship and IBM assignment. Farquharson’s account supplies the Contracts Online project name and the details of his leadership and implementation work; the patent records document the inventions and their named contributors. Together, they provide complementary sources for the professional history without treating the patent record as a complete account of internal project roles. [2][9][10][23]

From enterprise architecture to the SDAE Canon

For Farquharson, the connection to SDAE lies in the discipline of examining relationships across an entire system. In electronic contracting, a signature cannot be considered in isolation from identity, authority, access, approval, and the record of what occurred. In his later writing, a claim likewise needs more than a persuasive statement: it needs an identifiable source, clear meaning, declared assumptions, appropriate support, and a way to be corrected. This is the architectural connection he draws between his corporate experience and his current work. [4][18][23]

Book II.8, Figure Production Constitution and Foundational Claim Architectures, develops that concern in the language of figures and equations. G-01 asks what kind of claim is being made and what supports it. G-02 distinguishes exterior physical description, interior lived description, relational-organizational architecture, and symbolic-ethical orientation. The goal is to connect forms of understanding without allowing one to replace the responsibilities of another. [18][24]

His corporate experience helps explain the development of that approach; it does not make contracts, generators, and human beings interchangeable systems. Nor do engineering or software patents establish the clinical effectiveness of nutritional products or the empirical validity of a philosophical framework. The continuity is a way of asking questions: what must remain connected, what must remain protected, and how can the complete process remain accountable? [4][18][23]

Seen in that light, Fried Frank and IBM belong within the intellectual history of NuSpecies and SDAE. They show a professional background in obligations, negotiation, invention, and coordinated implementation that now meets the Canon’s concern with knowledge, lived experience, dignity, and responsible participation. [6][18][23][24]

Energy invention: organization, motion, and the responsibility to measure

Farquharson’s invention work also extends to electrical-generator designs. U.S. Patent 9,692,275, granted June 27, 2017, describes an alternative-energy generator involving the arrangement and relative motion of magnets and coils. U.S. Patent 10,110,109, granted October 23, 2018, describes further arrangements under the title Self-powered alternative energy machine to generate electricity. Both name Aston Gustavous Farquharson as inventor. [11][12]

A European grant publication, EP2999880B1, published July 11, 2018, concerns a windmill generator. It names Farquharson and Victor Roland Vargas Mousaa as inventors and identifies NuSpecies Global Machines Corporation as the applicant/assignee in the record. This is another distinct part of the documented engineering history. [13]

Farquharson connects this work with his NuPlanet energy-machine project and an interest in how geometry, component placement, motion, and losses affect the performance of an entire apparatus. His account presents reducing friction and improving coordination as design aims. Those aims explain his interest in organized relationships; they do not, on their own, establish the efficiency of a particular machine. [4]

For media coverage, a patent’s title and technical disclosure should remain separate from independently measured performance. The word “self-powered” in a title is not a substitute for a complete energy accounting. Any evaluation must distinguish external inputs, changes in stored energy, useful output, and losses over a stated period. The USPTO notes that working models are not ordinarily required with patent applications. [14]

The patents are therefore relevant to Farquharson’s history of invention without being presented as proof of energy production without an energy source, clinical effectiveness, or the validity of the SDAE framework. The connecting thread is his way of approaching a system, not the transfer of proof from one discipline into another.

NuSpecies: from charitable support to an ongoing practice

NuSpecies dates its formal establishment to 2007, following years of charitable work with friends, families, and others seeking nutritional support. The company describes itself as a family-owned business developed by Farquharson and Jillian Pelliccio. Its activities include plant-based liquid formulas and dietary supplements, integrative health consulting, and public education. [1]

Farquharson’s account describes thousands of conversations across more than two decades of support work, including the period preceding the company’s incorporation. Many people, he says, arrive after seeking medical help but continuing to experience illness, uncertainty, or unmet needs. Others seek additional guidance while remaining engaged with their treating professionals. [3]

The story also includes improvement and cooperation. Farquharson reports that some clients describe substantial gains in well-being, that some physicians believe NuSpecies support contributed, and that some clinicians recommend continuing particular products within an individual’s care. He also reports referrals from medical practitioners. These are accounts of experience and professional interaction; they should not be converted into a claim that one formula produces the same result for everyone. [3]

The distinction is central to the practice philosophy he wishes to communicate: seeking additional support need not mean withdrawing from medical care. His stated intention is to help people remain informed and involved, not to encourage them to abandon diagnosis, treatment, medication, or follow-up. [3]

Supplement decisions require product-specific attention. Ingredients, doses, medicines, health conditions, and treatment plans matter; dietary supplements can interact with medicines and should be discussed with the relevant healthcare professionals. Nutritional guidance and stress-management education are not replacements for cancer treatment, other necessary medical care, or qualified mental-health care. [15]

For Farquharson, the ethical responsibility includes avoiding blame. Illness, disability, recurrence, or an unfavorable outcome must not be treated as evidence that someone lacked sufficient belief, effort, coherence, or spiritual worth. The author’s account in Book II.8 makes that protection explicit. [3]

SDAE: a framework for relating knowledge and lived experience

Singularity Dual-Aspect Emergence is Farquharson’s philosophical framework for exploring physical existence, inner experience, and human becoming. The Coherence Framework explicitly presents the project as philosophical and metaphysical, not as a replacement for established science or a declaration of new physical forces. [16]

Within SDAE, the outer aspect concerns physical structures and processes: matter, energy, bodies, environments, and the conditions studied through empirical methods. The inner aspect concerns lived experience: awareness, feeling, meaning, value, and interpretation. The framework proposes that these belong within one reality while remaining distinguishable descriptions. [3]

Later Canon work develops four expressions: exterior physical description, interior lived description, relational-organizational architecture, and symbolic-ethical orientation. In plain language, these ask what can be observed, what is experienced, how relationships are organized, and what responsible participation requires. They are not four new substances or four separate universes. [3]

A person receiving consequential news offers a simple teaching example. An exterior account considers the setting and observable events. An interior account asks what the news means to the person. A relational account examines communication, support, and obligations. An ethical account asks how truthfulness, consent, and dignity should guide the response. Each account contributes something without replacing the others. [3]

The Spirit Field, in the Canon’s terminology, refers to structured interior and relational coherence: meaning, value, compassion, emotional integration, and the quality of relationships. It is not presented as an established physical field that can be measured like electromagnetism. Likewise, symbolic equations and geometric teachings are interpretive tools unless a particular model has separately defined quantities, assumptions, and appropriate evidence. [17][16]

This is where the professional and personal histories meet. The corporate work supplies experience of coordination and protected boundaries. Family and client encounters supply questions about vulnerability, meaning, and care. SDAE is Farquharson’s attempt to bring those concerns into sustained conversation without making one kind of knowledge stand in for every other kind. [4][3]

The Canon: several kinds of books, connected by a shared inquiry

Published through NuSpecies Press, the SDAE Canon is an interconnected writing project rather than a single book or one undifferentiated health manual. Its different strands serve different readers and purposes. [16][3]

The original Volumes I–VII establish the worldview and its human applications. Their own Canon map moves from an introduction to cosmology, consciousness, and becoming in Volume I to the more formal metaphysical companion in Volume II. Volume III develops sacred memory and ancestry; Volume IV considers daily practices and coherence under pressure; Volume V offers prayers and reflection around courage, illness, grief, and remembrance. Volume VI explores African sacred traditions and right relationship, while Volume VII turns toward civilization, ecological responsibility, technology, and future humanity. These descriptions identify the books’ educational and philosophical roles, not treatments they have been shown to deliver. [17]

The SDAE Coherence Framework — From Primordial Symmetry to Cosmic Responsibility draws the larger project together. It connects questions of origins and emergence with life, consciousness, meaning, participation, and responsibility. Its purpose is orientation: helping readers see the relationship among subjects that can otherwise appear disconnected. [16]

The Cathedral and Coherence Architecture develop the rules for that inquiry. Their constitutional approach begins with empirical foundations, uses mathematical language to clarify relationships, and then considers architectural recognition across domains. The ordering matters: an analogy does not become a physical mechanism merely because the comparison is elegant. [18]

The Mathematics of Becoming develops the more formal side of the project through definitions, state spaces, relations, equations, registries, diagrams, and explicit limits on interpretation. The author’s reading map organizes it as a planned fifteen-book sequence, identifying Books II.1–II.7 as published and II.8 as in author review. Later continuation volumes remain distinct from released work; format-specific availability should be confirmed with the publisher. [19]

The mathematical work has an important practical ambition: make ideas inspectable. What do the symbols mean? What assumptions are required? What is an analogy, a definition, a proposed model, or an empirical relationship? What would justify extending a claim—and what would require restricting it? These questions are part of the project, not objections placed outside it. [3]

Book II.8: making explanation accountable

The current Book II.8, Figure Production Constitution and Foundational Claim Architectures, brings that ambition to visual communication. It asks how diagrams can help people understand without acquiring an authority their evidence has not earned. [3]

An arrow can indicate sequence, a mathematical mapping, an inference, an analogy, or causation. Those meanings are not interchangeable. A precise-looking number can describe a model without being a measured fact. A well-designed image can illuminate a relationship, but it cannot establish that relationship merely by displaying it. Book II.8 requires captions, notation, source records, and visual distinctions that let readers see which task is being performed. [3]

Two foundational figures organize this work. G-01, Claim Boundaries and Equation Levels, asks readers to identify the kind of statement, its support, scope, uncertainty, and conditions for revision. G-02, The Four-Expression Framework, distinguishes physical, lived, organizational, and symbolic-ethical descriptions without treating them as interchangeable or isolated. [3]

The human foundation comes before the figures. Its opening states: “These books did not begin with equations. They began with people.” The placement explains why a book concerned with typography, mathematical notation, and diagram construction also discusses care, dignity, and the experience of seeking help. [3]

The return to systems integrity is clear: just as a contract needs an accountable process around its execution, an explanation needs an accountable process around its presentation. That is an architectural comparison, not a claim that the two processes work identically. In both settings, Farquharson’s concern is that essential protections should not disappear behind a polished result. [4][3]

African sacred memory and restoration without resentment

Farquharson’s spiritual inquiry also looks toward African historical and sacred traditions, including Kemet, Kush, Ma’at, the Ogdoad, Heru, and Djehuty. Volume VI places these interests alongside questions of memory, sacred measure, lineage, comparative theology, death, and responsible living. Its developing source material also attends to Nubian and Kushite contexts, including Nabta Playa, Qustul, and Kerma. [20]

His phrase “restoration without resentment” expresses the direction of this work: recover names, perspectives, and inheritances without making hostility toward other peoples or traditions the basis of identity. The book’s comparative sections place African sacred thought in conversation with Christianity, Judaism, and Islam rather than presenting contemporary SDAE as a replacement for every other spiritual path. [20]

This historical and spiritual strand should be read in its stated register. Reverence for ancestors, symbolic resonance, historical interpretation, and claims supported by archaeological evidence are different activities. The Canon’s commitment to distinguishing types of knowledge applies to sacred history as much as to equations or health education. [20][18]

Educating scientific spiritualists

Farquharson is now planning training for people he calls SDAE scientific spiritualists. The project extends his interest in making complex ideas usable beyond technical or academic settings. NuSpecies already provides public-facing educational discussions and live question-and-answer sessions with Farquharson and Pelliccio. The proposed training is a developing initiative, not an established clinical credential. [21][22]

The educational direction is to pair compassionate attention with disciplined inquiry. “Scientific” calls for care about evidence, assumptions, sources, and revision. “Spiritual” creates room for meaning, ancestry, value, responsibility, and questions that people encounter through living. Neither term should be used to claim clinical authority or to exempt an explanation from scrutiny. This formulation follows the Canon’s explicit separation of empirical, lived, ethical, and symbolic claims. [18]

In practice, that means learning to listen without dismissing experience, explain without overstating certainty, recognize the limits of one’s role, and encourage appropriate professional care. An account of improvement can be heard respectfully while the question of causation remains open. A person can be supported without being required to accept every aspect of SDAE. [3]

The emerging educational tools use inner, outer, and bridge language to invite reflection on daily pressures, relationships, rest, support, and participation. Their appropriate role is education and conversation—not diagnosis, a numerical measure of human worth, or a score that selects medical treatment or supplements. The books and tools remain optional ways to learn. [19][3]

Becoming, responsibility, and the world inherited by children

The farther horizon of Farquharson’s work is expressed in the Canon’s Bridge Species idea. It asks whether humanity can bring greater foresight, compassion, restraint, and stewardship to its growing capabilities. In this context, becoming a bridge is an ethical and philosophical aspiration—not a ranking of superior and inferior people. [17]

The connection to everyday life is deliberate. A person’s capacity to participate is shaped not only by determination but also by relationships, circumstances, access to care, and the support available around them. The Canon’s invitation to take responsibility is therefore paired with a protection against self-blame: a difficult outcome does not cancel a person’s dignity. [3]

Its future-facing questions concern institutions as well as individuals. What kind of education do children inherit? How should technology be governed? Whose burdens are hidden by an apparently successful system? How can communities preserve knowledge while remaining open to correction? Volume VII places these questions within a wider concern for civilization and ecological responsibility. [17]

Seen together, Farquharson’s background does not offer one credential that settles every question he raises. It offers a history of work across different settings—and a continuing attempt to connect the organization of systems with the responsibilities of people.

The contracts, generators, consultations, books, and teaching projects retain their distinct purposes. The proposed continuity lies in paying attention to relationships, preserving what must not be sacrificed, and making learning possible when an explanation or design falls short. In the Canon’s own words: “Reality remains the measure.” [4][3]

About Aston Gustavous Farquharson

Aston Gustavous Farquharson is the founder of NuSpecies Corporation and creator of Singularity Dual-Aspect Emergence (SDAE). His professional background includes corporate-law and legal-services work at Fried Frank and IBM. In his account of the IBM period, he led and co-led global outsourcing contract negotiations, served as lead inventor of the Contracts Online e-signature initiative, and co-led its development and deployment with IBM business, research, and legal teams. Public patent records independently name him as a co-inventor in IBM-assigned electronic-contracting inventions and as an inventor of energy-generation designs. Through NuSpecies Press, his SDAE Canon explores emergence, consciousness, coherence, dignity, and human responsibility, while maintaining a distinction between education, philosophical inquiry, and demonstrated clinical effects. [1][2][6][9][10][11][18][23]
