All Natural Almond Milk

*You can keep it plain if you are going to use it in a flavorful dish, or use the optional add-ins to make it tasty when you drink it all on its own.

Ingredients:

  • 1½ cups of raw almonds, soaked in water overnight (you can substitute with cashews or brazil nuts to achieve different flavors)
  • 4 cups of water
  • To add a little more flavor, consider these optional additions…
  • Dash of Vanilla Extract
  • 3-5 dates or Raw Honey to taste

Directions:

Blend 1½ cups of raw almonds that have been soaked overnight in 4 cups of water. Blend with dates if you like your milk with a hint of sweetness. Strain once to remove almond granules. The result is delicious, creamy milk that is free of harmful vegetable oil, concentrated sweeteners, and the problems associated with cow’s milk and soy. It keeps for 3-4 days in the refrigerator. Bonus byproduct: ground up almonds that you can put to good use as an oat substitute or as a protein-rich addition to smoothies. You can store this in your fridge for up to 4 days, or freeze it to keep longer.
